Here’s an interesting dichotomy which might generate some controversial discussion.
The 17th World Editor’s Forum in Hamburg, Germany on October 6-8 (WEF 2010) is entitled “The Tablet Year: Why Mobile Distribution Will Change the News Business”. Some of the sessions will deal with content monetization, multimedia newsrooms, innovations at newspaper publishers, new content platforms, and Google News. Sounds pretty relevant, right? But the opening keynote will be presented by Giovanni di Lorenzo, Editor-in-Chief of the respected German weekly newspaper Die Zeit, and his subject will be “Why I Believe in Print”.
An editor promoting print in today’s electronic world is unusual–I wish I could be there to hear his speech!
