Retirement Made Easy
ITI Bloggers July 12th, 2009
Any plans to retire in your future? Or maybe, you’re just thinking about it? Well, think about checking out the Social Security Administration’s booth at ALA for the latest infor on the agency’s online services. Why wait in line when you can do it online?
Carolyn G. Houston, social insurance specialist in the Office of Communications, says Patti Duke, former childhood actress (anyone remember her from the vintage television years?), is now the spokesperson for the agency. “Patti Duke actually signed up for her Social Security benefits online,” says Houston, noting that the process has never been faster, easier, or more secure.
Other benefits via www.socialsecurity.gov? Houston says users can apply for retirement benefits, sign up for the free online newsletter, use online calculators to find out about individual benefits, get statements online, and even access to Social Security information in 15 languages.
