Ready to Party?

ITI Bloggers June 16th, 2009

In past years, SLA conference goers were inundated with party invitiations. I was reminiscing with several librarians about parties of the past. We even went as far back as 1979 when the first Disclosure party occured. It was spur of the moment, but grew into some true extravaganzas in later years. Then there were the monster ISI parties and the Dialog bash. Not so this year.

There are, of course, the Division suites, but even these aren’t as numerous as even last year. The News Division, for example, was only open for one night. The International Reception, sponsored by Dow Jones, and presented by Social Sciences Division, Europe Chapter and the International  Information Exchange Caucus, was held at the Zambian Embassy last night and was very nice once you got there (bus transport was seriously unreliable).

Elsevier had a delightful dessert reception at the Spy Museum, which was very well attended and I was particularly pleased that we got to see the entire museum, something that is not always the case with receptions held in museums, so thank you, Elsevier, for arranging that!
