While it’s hard not to see the big blue bear statue peering into the convention center, how many SLA attendees noticed the artwork on the wall facing big blue? The trio of wall sculptures are titled "Model State: A Local Cosmology" (Survival, Artifacts, and Marking the Land) by John McEnroe. The artwork was part of the 2004 Public Art Program for the City and County of Denver, Mayor’s Commission on Art, Culture, and Film (John Hickenlooper, Mayor, and Noel Compdon, Chair). And if you’re feeling a bit tired by now, rest up knowing that you traveled around the 584,000 square feet of exhibit space several times over during the SLA conference.
