Down on the exhibit floor experts are sharing their knowledge with attendees who haven’t paid to attend the actual OI conference. Since there are many more people who pay nothing to attend the exhibition than who pay the premium price for the conference, some of these sessions on the exhibit floor are vastly over-full. For Jill Fenton’s on financial services information sources, I ended up sitting on the floor. She stressed that it’s important to know who’s interested in collecting the data, such as trade and professional associations. She then ran through several important web sites for data on retail banking, the insurance industry, and investment. Most were very UK focused. I found it interesting how much data UK agencies collect and how available it is. The full slides will be on Jill’s web site.
