It seems to have been raining off and on ever since I arrived in London for the Online Information show. I do remember other years with snow, so I’m not really complaining about the rain.
As my colleagues, Dick and Don, have already noted, this is our latest fling at blogging in London. As I sit here in my hotel room, looking over the train tracks at Olympia where large trucks are gathering to disgorge all manner of stand paraphernalia, I wonder if anyone has attended all of these shows. I have a few names in mind, but if you’re reading this and know of someone who’s been to all of them — or if you yourself have been to all of them — please do let one of the blog team know about it! And before you ask, no, I haven’t been to all of them.
Perhaps I’m feeling a bit nostalgic, because the other thing I’m doing as I sit here is reviewing the galleys for the 30th anniversary issue of ONLINE . Looking back at companies the magazine covered decades ago and comparing that with the list of exhibitors at Online Information shows how the information industry has changed and evolved over time. It also shows how many acquisitions have happened.
It’s heartening that so many new companies are here and I greatly look forward to visiting their stands to gain a better understanding of what they bring to the table for information professionals.
