OCLC/RLG Merger Final

RLG (Research Libraries Group) was not to be found in the OCLC booth at SLA, even though the merger announced early last month received RLG membership approval on Friday, according to an official OCLC press release sent to ITI editors on June 9th.

Effective July 1, the release states, “RLG’s online products and services are being integrated with OCLC’s, and RLG’s program initiatives are being continued as RLG-Programs.” RLG will operate as a division of OCLC.

According to Anita Reeb, Executive Director for US Library Services (left), RLG will be sharing the OCLC booth at ALA in New Orleans in a couple weeks.

The OCLC representatives on hand at SLA, including Mary Sue Iddings, Library Services Consultant (pictured right), are demo-ing OCLC’s econtent services, including FirstSearch and NetLibrary eBooks and eAudioBooks, Digital Content Management Software, QuestionPoint for virtual reference, and of course WorldCat.

You can visit OCLC in booth 2413.
