Monterey Wildlife

Dick showed you some pictures of the views from the walking path. You can see all kinds of bird life quite close up, like these cormorants drying their wings and some penguins resting before their next fishing expedition.

The birds are interesting, but by far, the animals that are Monterey icons are the harbor seals and the California sea lions. Here are sea lions that congregate on one of the rock jetties at the entrance of the harbor.

Yes you can get quite close to them! (Don’t worry, there was a strong fence between me and this fellow.) In an earlier post, Dick said you could “almost hear the seals barking”. Well, now you can. Just click here.
