Lou Parziale (H.W. Wilson) and NFAIS President-Elect, opened the conference promptly at 1 p.m.
In his remarks he stressed some points that I’m predicting are going to reverberate through this conference.
To paraphrase, Lou said it’s a time when the producers meeting here need to question whether their business models will hold up. Should they stick with them? or should they embrace new opportunities and look for and develop new business models that reflect the reality of today’s markets?
The whole conference program seems aimed at getting at these issues. At this point, we can’t see how it will all turn out. But, in my view, the organizers have put a great deal of thought into getting this topic to the front of everyone’s mind.
And by now, all the seats in the meeting room have filled with willing listeners.
