Yesterday’s International Reception provided special librarians from around the world the opportunity to meet each other. I renewed an acquaintance with Prof. Dr. Wolfram Neubauer, Direktor of the ETH Library in Zurich, whom I first met in Brighton at SLA’s Global 2000. SLA is trying to convince itself it’s international. It needs more than a reception at the annual conference to prove that. This isn’t something that needs more study. There have been studies. The Board has read those studies. But not enough has happened.
Enough carping from me. Here’s the positive news. The winner of the European Special Librarian of the Year (ESLY) award was IEE’s Janet Tomlinson. Congratulations to her! Well deserved, Janet!
