Sunrise over Olympia

When I arrived in London yesterday, the sun was just rising. Light was streaming through the glass dome of the Olympia conference center, a Victorian structure with a modern wing attached. Permanent signs on the buildings describe the site as a place that has been “creating legends since 1886.”

Though Olympia hasn’t always been the home to the event that for many years was known as the International Online Meeting, this legendary conference and trade show has always been held in the same neighborhood of London, for many years just up the street in Hammersmith.

For those with pounds sterling to burn, the auction house Southeby’s is also on site. In fact, as you’re going up on the lift to the meeting rooms, you might get off on that floor by mistake. But with everything the meeting organizers (VNU Imark) have put together for this event, there will be no time to shop.

In addition to the trade show, Online Information and Content Management Europe features a three-day program for information professionals, plus three theatres on the trade show floor offering specialized programs. The reporting team from Information Today will be doing our best to bring you the highlights of this massive event.
